Works best when the cats are still young and small

I'm still looking for swallowtail cats on my dill
I got plenty for them and my future pickles

Helps if you use a surfactant with BT.

My cabbage is getting ate on pretty good.
Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

        Onward, Christian soldiers,
        marching as to war,
        With the cross of Jesus
        going on before!
        Christ, the royal Master,
        leads against the foe;
        Forward into battle,
        see his banner go!

I sprayed that stuff on everything and didn't see any negative affects on any plantings. Melons , tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers , some others. Maybe there are some plants you shouldn't use it on but a simple search can tell you. The best pesticide has been the blue birds.
I also bag some of the primo tomatoes in those screen bags which helps me a ton as well.

ai-toolkit$ claude -p "can bt thuricide be used on cabbage? What plants are NOT recommended to use BT thuricide on?"

**Yes, Bt Thuricide can absolutely be used on cabbage** β€” it's one of the primary recommended uses. It's effective against cabbage loopers, imported cabbageworms (*Pieris rapae*), and diamondback moths.

          ## Plants Where Bt Thuricide Is NOT Recommended

Bt Thuricide is generally safe for most plants β€” the restrictions are about **where it's not labeled/approved**, not plant damage:

          - **Turf grasses** β€” not labeled for lawn use
          - **Indoor houseplants** β€” generally not labeled for indoor application
          - **Plants with no caterpillar pest pressure** β€” Bt only works on lepidopteran larvae (caterpillars), so it's pointless on plants where that's not the pest

          ## Important Caveats

          - **Not effective against sucking insects** (aphids, whiteflies, spider mites) β€” don't use as a general pesticide
          - **Avoid spraying open flowers** on plants visited by pollinators β€” caterpillar larvae of butterflies and moths could be affected, though adult bees are unharmed
          - **Milkweed with monarch caterpillars** β€” do not spray near milkweed if monarchs are present, as it will kill monarch larvae

          ## Bottom Line

Bt Thuricide is one of the safest pesticides for vegetable gardens, including all brassicas (cabbage, broccoli, kale, etc.). Always check the current product label, as approved crop lists and application rates are legally binding and may vary by formulation.

The only thing about Thuricide is when people spray they want to see dead caterpillars but that’s not going to happen. It’s a biological caterpillar control that needs to be ingested. But it does work.

It wiped them all out, yes doesn't happen immediately but I was impressed. Any stragglers are getting picked up by the male bluebirds and feeding them to momma!

I don't have many plants , I've had large gardens in the past but keeping this one small and manageable. We eat off it everyday and it produces just enough to supplement every meal just about.
