New Horizon Vandal X

Been looking at them for a couple years and decided to make the purchase. Horizon had a cyber-Monday sale with 22% off so that made the decision easier. Went with the left-handed Vandal X in 22 creedmoor with the 18inch barrel. Still not sure on the scope yet but leaning towards a Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50. Once I get it lined out I will start looking for a can to leave on this one all the time.



I've never purchased a new custom like this before. Have heard of barrel break in but have never done it on any of my other guns. Any thoughts on this?????
Will be going to the lease next week to see how it does at the range.

Los Cazadores here in Pearsall stocks Horizon rifles. If I'm not mistaken Horizon is the first to have chambered rifles for 22 Creedmoor. I think they are around 2900 bucks 22% off makes them more attractive for sure. And a lefty also. The twisty looking barrels they use kind of bugs me if you are having them make you one, I imagine you can get whatever barrel design you want. I bet it's a good shooter best of luck with it.

I believe the external barrel twist reduces weight while still being considered a bull barrel. Without the scope it weighs 6.14.

Direct from Horizon it's $2800 so the 22% played a huge factor in the purchase.

That 3-flute, 2-twist spiral fluting barrel is one amazing piece of machining.

I'm dying for a range report on this. I asked the manager at Cazadores Friday is he would knock off 22% on the 22 Creed Horizons he has gathering dust.

Will have a report next week. Went to pick it up and NCIS is delaying everything. Had it shipped to Carters Country in Pasadena and they said all have been delayed at least two days. I messed up and let my CHL expire.

Well range time will have to wait a week or two. They shipped a right handed bolt instead of the left that I ordered. Even had a couple calls discussing what I wanted (trigger pull etc,) and still messed it up.

Man, what a bummer. I bought a custom rifle one time from Primal Rights in South Dakota and did something stupid. I sent them a cashiers check or I thought I did I sent the duplicate part the bank gives you and put the check in my bank drawer. I was drooling to get this rifle and got a phone call from the owner when the priority package finally got there. I felt like an idiot found the real check and overnighted it there then the wait for UPS to get it here it seemed like weeks.

Well damn. They have around a 90-day lead time for left-handed. Horizon said they would do all they could to shorten that time and have been very easy to deal with.

Still waiting for it. We have our yearly pig/coyote hunt with Steve Wilson in early February. Sure hope to have it for that hunt.

The Horizon rifles seem great to me. A caliber that interest me is the 6 MM Creedmoor, and Horizon is one of the few companies that makes rifles in 6 Creedmoor.
