Neighbors hunter took this one yesterday evening. We have a lot bigger but the deer was on the hit list so he's done. Young but a good heathy deer. I'm happy for the hunter.

So what’s the criteria you’re using for having him on the “hit list”?

Not my hit list. It's my neighbors. Only me and my kids hunt my place. We have different rules. My only rule right now is take all the doe your license will allow you to take. I need them to take a cull of MY choice and I give them leeway on their choice of a buck. If it's special to them I'm usually good with it. We are low fenced. We have a very good heard and some great deer if you have the time to put in to hunt them you can get a great deer. 160+ can be had. Just need to have time and hunt them. Rut is getting ready to start here. Some are nosing around but no serious chasing yet. Saw a big shooter 10 today still running with 2 other bucks. When I say big shooter I'm talking over 18" spread. We hunt mass mostly here. The big groups of bucks have broken up. Had one group with 11 bucks running together about a month ago.

I tend to always mind my own business when it comes to life in general and I'm not going to tell a neighbor what to allow to be shot on his place. That was the biggest deer that man has shot in his life. I was overjoyed for him. Not everyone can afford a 20K lease or a 1 or 2 million dollar piece of property for themselves. Some people hunt meat, some hunt antlers. I hunt happiness for all those who enjoy the hunt for the hunt.

                I like that ^^^^.
When I think back about all the great deer hunts in my life, it is really the experience of camp life and friendship and sharing a common love of nature that comes to mind.

Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be about. I don't worry about how others do their thing. It's all good and my fam just wants to eat venison. Horns of any realistic caliber are a bonus.

Finally got an opportunity to air one out, first time using an expandible blade. Shot out of our old chicken house, she was standing @17yards with her head in a pile of corn, went about 100 yrds, wasn't much blood early so I went and got our JR to close the deal, I put her on a few drops and away she went......right to it layed up in a briar patch. Didn't need the dog but I figured she could use the work for next time. Next up will be using my grandads LC Smith on the first legal deer to put its head in another corn pile. Not sure if this is considered Harvest. 6.8mm SPC behind the ear DRT, straight to the gut pile.

90 degrees out and I don’t wear long pants anymore anyway Kurt, shorts or overalls about it. Hasn’t slowed me from hanging about 15 l-20 deer a year the last many years..That and I stopped giving a fk about what anyone thinks of me anyway when I hit 20.
