    Gizzards?

Do you guys eat fried gizzards?

I tried them a while back and it didn't mesh with my appetite.

Last year I was at the Serve Outdoors fund raiser in Matagorda and they were serving fried chicken and also had a huge pan of delicious looking fried gizzards. Well, long story short I got into those gizzards.

A couple of days ago I stopped off at the Hartz Chicken in Rosenberg and got the buffet. Man I ate so many gizzards, wings, and thighs I barely ate yesterday.

Dipped in the cream gravey they are delicious. A bit chewy but good.

    Anyone else a gizzard fan..?

Oh side note, when I was leaving I thanked the employees for their hospitality and told them the chef was making some good gizzards. He said it was their best seller....

? I don't know if he meant on the buffet table or what, but that's what he said....

Thumbs down on gizzards, but I can tear up some livers! Luby's used to have some of the best.

I pressure cook my gizzards for a while before I fry them.

Absolutely, love some gizzards. But I also like livers, actually any kind of liver. I’ve had chicken livers, beef liver, deer liver, and moose liver. Talking about chicken innards, to me the best is hearts. They are not as chewy as gizzards, but not as soft as livers…they’re just right.

By the way, to me, dove has a little taste of liver, my wife agrees with me, but she’s not a liver lover. She loves quail, but won’t eat a dove.

In the old days, I can remember my Dad would cook gizzards for dinner. These were not fried, but cooked in one of those old pressure cookers with the screw down lid. It was gizzards and gravy over rice. I also remember being quite fond of that dinner.

Mom loved them, so as a kid we had them for dinner often. I ate them because if you didn't eat what she fixed, you didn't eat. I don't like gizzards, but fried chicken liver is pretty good.

If you ever have a pile of geese, try goose gizzards. Too big to fry whole

We used to lightly grill em and then make a tinfoil pan and simmer them in bbq sauce while waiting on the rest of the chicken to get done. Not too bad after a few pivo’s. 😄

Thumbs UP for me on gizzards, livers and hearts. There used to be a market in Fayetteville my pa-paw used to take me to that served pickled chickens feet wrapped up in butcher paper. Used to tear them chicken feet up.
