    What's your favorite news site?

Thought I would see what others are using. I tend to read on my tablet with the exception of local news on Houston TV. Looking for national and international news, current events, etc. I'm a die hard republican, can't stand CNN, Fox News, etc because it's mostly grossly biased editorial vs just plain old news. I don't need someone to tell me what my opinion should be - just give me factual news and I'll form my own opinions, thank you.

My home page is yahoo but seems like it's mostly just clickbait headlines or total crap like Huffington Post, etc. I miss the good old days when you could just turn on the evening news, and they would actually tell you if it was editorial vs factual.

    Any recommendations?

    Hadn't heard of it before.

"Newsmax is an American cable news, political opinion commentary, and digital media company. It has been variously described as conservative, right-wing, and far-right."

Kinda an example of what I'm not looking for (political opinion commentary), but will check it out.

Sadly, I’m not sure that a real news channel exists. Unexpectedly, aljazera is fairly straightforward . Not much out there that is just factual or even factual. People are addicted to misleading biased propaganda being presented as news.

Aljazeera, zero hedge for the comments. Friends over seas and family in the dod and darpa. Some others. Some online feeds more for faster impact of when things happen. Fox news max and CNN are all filtered by the same team and don't take anything from them worth a grain of salt. Exception being if it's obvious facts that something happened.

My opinion matches yours. Many years ago I spent a lot of time in Asia for work. I always read South China Morning Post, out of Hong Kong. I always appreciated different viewpoints on international current events. Started going downhill when China started exerting more control.

Most news nowadays you can tell almost right away which direction they're trying to influence you.

I gave up on electric mass media. I do still hit certain youtube channels from trusted sources. I prefer real print. I read The Plaquemines Gazette weekly. I've got a "perscription". It keeps me connected to back home without the excrement that comes from New Orleans itself. I really enjoy the political commentary of Garey Forster. He has a by-line of, "From a Recovering Politician". He's really good. Only trouble is, there's no funnies. I used to read the Brazoria County Facts, but I kept using a red pen to correct their mistakes. They still have the funnies though. I think I'll subscribe again. Small town papers are so much better if you can find them.
From 1970-1997, true Heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

I used to live in Lake Jackson and call/e-mailed them so many times. I even called and spoke to their IT director around COVID to be nice and explain to them they have a huge gaping security hole. Nothing was fixed. Hey Sandy can't you get the scoop on NOLA people reading the Chron 😂

Is AP reliable? They seem left but not as biased as most other sources, which are so obviously pushing their agenda.

Same here, every 4 yrs i'll turn it on for election night, but that's it. Why get all worked up over something i can't control? Life is too short for me to sit in front of a tv and listen to a network push their agenda.

News Nation. It’s mostly US, not local. The downside is they get on a story and might spend 20 minutes on it. They seem to lean a little right, but mostly balanced.

For local, they all suck really bad…. especially KPRC NBC. They have very little news, strong bias, and 2/3 is weather because they are too lazy to go get real local news.

True unbiased news is a lost art.

What I have noticed is on the local news (I am in Georgetown and we get four different Austin stations) they are all now trying to be more national news than local - they also changed their formats to having 3-4 people who sit around and try to be funny - last gripe is they show the weather and traffic every ten minutes -

                Nationally Newsmax seems pretty good

I haven't watched the Austin channels in a very long time. I don't understand why they have news @ 5pm and then again @ 6 pm.

There is no more news. Only propaganda and opinion. We are forced to filter our own opinion based on what you consume. Social media killed the network news but it the fastest at getting info to form your own opinion.
