I've been running the same exact mower since 2015 and it runs like a champ. I'm somewhere around 500 hours on it. I use mine to mow about 2 acres at least once a week during "mowing" season and I haul it to Matagorda once a month and mow a couple of empty lots that we have down there.

My next one will be 66"+. The only reason I went with a 54" at the time was so it would fit through the double doors on my storage room. I've since built a 40x60 barn, so there's plenty of room for a bigger one when the time comes. I'm hoping to get 15 years out of mine and then I'll likely upgrade whether it needs it or not.

My neighbor is running a 110" Hustler with a batwing deck. Its a beast. Mows his 4 acres in about an hour.

My old school edger is rarely used and is falling apart. I have an inherited snow shovel in my shed. All wood handle and steel shovel. Only useful when it snows. Did you ever have to add new line on your ten year old weed eater.

A Zero Turn has been on my wishlist for a while. I'm using a standard riding mower 42" for my residence. The belt is coming off every time now I disengage the PTO. It's easy to slip it back onto the pulley but it was a pain getting off several times to do this. Thinking it may need a new belt, maybe stretched out? Maybe the tensioner?

Could be the belt or tensioner but belt stretch is more common. If your deck belt is manually engaged and disengaged with a lever. Try this, Don’t slam the lever to the on or off positions. Slowly engage and disengage the stretched belt with the lever. I’ve gotten several more mowings using this method without the belt jumping off the pulleys.
If yours is electrical it’s time for a new belt.
          Good luck!

It's a manual lever, I was doing the easy engage/disengage as mentioned and it worked a few times. I see a new belt in the future. It's a 2013 model and the belt has never been replaced.

At your mowers age it’s probably time for a new belt and pulleys. I’d even reduce the engine rpm just enough so it wouldn’t die while engaging/disengaging and that helped for a while. I replaced the belt and pulleys on my 2006 Husqvarna two years ago,

I've been running a Dixie Chopper Magnum with that Kawasaki engine. I think it's the fs650 23hp. I do my preventive maintenance on it and running great.

After growing up with “ conventional “ riding mowers - fing steering wheel - I bought a gravely zero turn. Crap - soooooo much easier. Having 2.3 acres in Poc and in San Antonio - it made my life so much better.

I have a Hustler 54" as well, been a great machine for me. I think i'm around 200 hrs, basically mow about 2 acres. It's truly amazing how much time this machine saved me over my last 46" riding mower.

My zero turn needs to show up before the next deluge. It's hard looking out the windows with the grass that tall.

I got nothing but weeds to mow and the crap John Deere mower I have clogs up after about one pass. It's the sorriest excuse for a lawnmower made. I should have never sold my Kubota BX.

                    John Deere ztrak 970r.
                    35hp Kawasaki.
                    72" deck.
                    Tweels in the rear.
Tweels and torsion casters in the front.
                    Full suspension seat.
It will throw hay out the side at 13 mph. Absolute best machine ive ever had. Beautiful cut. My yard is not small and its done in 35 minutes.....horses take care of the pasture mostly but that 6 acres needs a lil trim once or twice a summer. Takes about 2 and a half hours with all those trees.

I wish they would come up with another name besides "tweels". That's a good product and all, but it sounds like something that oughta be on a barbie lawnmower or something.

Set up like above with suspension seat, tweels front and back, and ztrak torsion casters is the smoothest a JD zero turn can be made to ride.

Yes, "tweels" sounds a bit strange to me also.

I'm running a Murry, Forrest Gump model BA 2000. I traded a non working 10hp outboard for it. It may have a million hours on it but it still cuts the weeds in Sargent.
