What is Going on With the Texas House

Nearly a month into the session and no committee assignments, no bills taken up for consideration, nothing. These clowns all need to be fired!

They're officially adjourned until tomorrow at 2 pm.. Resolution to adjourn passed on the 5th, supposedly to allow "legislative preparations"... I guess they spent so much time arguing over who was going to be speaker that they blew the rest of their schedule out of the water.

Got a call in response to,my email to my representative. The staffer made all kinds of excuses for nothing getting done in the House. I told her we would make changes at the next election that folks were fed up with elected officials who waste time and money doing nothing. She was not too happy she did not persuade me otherwise!

Don't fool yourself. They are all in it for personal gain. Does not matter which side they are on.

            Is this bad?

We have VOLUMES of laws... so many can dang near fill a library.

Is no bills a bad thing?

Unless they seriously work on property tax... none of the other things matter.

You got Greg & Dan patrick waging a war on weed... yeah.. let that die

School choice.. not my issue... don't care.

Abortion... again... it's fine .. we don't need any more laws about it...

I like it ..... no scratch that... I LOVE IT when politicians aren't doing anything.
Playing victim is the most powerful position on the board. You get to define the villain and the hero, and nothing is your fault. Plus if you don’t like the way it’s going you can redefine the hero as a villain.

School choice is very important to me as I have four grandchildren that will benefit from school choice. And Proerty tax reform is very much important to me!

My thoughts....even thought my wife is a retired school teacher/principal/HR director and a daughter in law who is a coach in the FBISD, ( which they are supportive of school choice) I don't think that many will benefit who currently cannot afford private schools or other options because these (private)schools will then increase dramatically their tuition / fees, for they will increase their teachers/administrators salaries because they pay substantially lower wages currently so they will then have the opportunity to make substantial wage increases which they will say are necessary to attract and retain more teachers and retain those that are there now.
The real truth is that they really don't want more of our public school children as they most likely don't want them to water down their elite status which is important to many if not most of their current clientele. I hope I'm wrong but I have heard variants of this from several friends who have students in private schools and think there is no upside to them other than it may provide a lower cost to them but they do think the school will increase their fees etc. and a substantial portion of any monies that are being sent back to the family will be eroded by the increases.
