    Crap!!

I stocked these 3 years ago and they were 3 inches long. This is not normal. Huge female loaded with eggs. I was fishing for perch with worms. There were no crappie in the stock tank before I put them in there. This is a 1 acre pond. I've pulled 10lb bass out out of here too. I stocked Florida Bass 3 years ago. It was a beautiful fish. Released to lay her eggs. Headed to Overtons to buy another 50 this week. I honestly didn't think they would survive in the heat that we have here during the summer. Caught 7 catfish from 2 to 5lbs today. Freezer will be filled this week to last me through the winter.

I love crappie, fun to catch, great to eat. Nice fish. Crappie, like bass, are an amazingly adaptable fish. From giant reservoirs, to cold northern rivers, to the dirty retention pond in my neighborhood, you can find the exact same fish.

I've always heard if you want to maintain a healthy small farm pond, don't put crappie in it. They are so yummy though!

I have perch, crappie and bass in that tank. The eco system is perfect. I have a small problem with green algae in that tank but it only affects the fishing and not real bad YET! I'm still building the crappie population so I release all that I catch. The catfish tank pretty much takes care of itself. Lots of green perch and I feed heavy. Put 7 nice fat catfish in the freezer a couple of days ago and have 3 on the stringer now that will be cleaned tomorrow. This cold weather is messing with the bite. Rain coming tonight so I don't know what will happen. Got all the kids and grandkids coming up so there will be a lot of fish caught. Trying to stock the freezer before it get's to hot.
