I went out Saturday evening hoping for one more shot at some trout in the dock lights on the ICW. It didn't take long to get the first one, first cast with the Softdine XL. I didn't check my leader and the next one broke me off. The first was a 24'er. Switched to the homemade slow sinker I made a couple weeks ago and had another 24 a couple casts later. Got several 19-20''er's before going in. All of them got to swim free this trip. Most were pretty fat but the second 24 was a pencil.

Throw something with some size to it. Like a Fatboy or a Softdine XL. Saw people with live shrimp on a cork down from me never got a bite. Everything I'm catching them on is slow sinking mullet types.I don't have anything clever to write here.Comment

Thx, I have plenty of Soft Dine XL’s…I was catching solid trout with soft plastics before all the weather hit and haven’t tried it since. Water is really muddy now on Bastrop….I got nuthin….Comment

It was pretty bad water Saturday, muddy and windy. My expectations were pretty low. I almost stayed in.I don't have anything clever to write here.Comment

Excellent report! What is that grip you use for the trout, I need something like that. Boga tears them up too bad.The artist formerly known as Johnbutte1

I'll have to look at one when I get home. I got it at Academy. I like it better that a Boga, it's only $15 and I think it's more secure.I don't have anything clever to write here.Comment
