    "Home" Improvement

The swivel seat in my elevated box stand got an upgrade yesterday.

The old seat was made of particle board and over the years of moisture exposure looked weak.

Replaced it with one of the 2"x12" boards that I had cut to make cutting boards.

Bearings were greased, and I have a seat cushion to top it.

Your back is better than mine sir!

I need something to lean on if I will be there for a long time. At work, I stand up 90% of my time.

I have done similar. I really like a totally silent swivel seat for hunting. But I need a back rest.

I'm usually leaning forward with my arms resting on the shooting platform.
Take most of the weight off my back.
Same position when I take a shot, I'm leaning into the rifle for a more steady shot.

I have used the office chair I'm sitting in right now, but was too easy to lean back and fall asleep.

I’ve got executive style office chairs in my blinds. Very comfortable…sometimes too comfortable.
I told them we’ve already got one

That's what I had in mine. I figured if I was gonna make an all day sit I wanted to be comfortable. Some of the best naps I've ever had.

It always cracked me up....a guy spends countless thousands of dollars on lease, feeders, corn/protein, cadillac blind, rifle, scope, binos and a 10000 atv......but most hunters then end up putting a squeaky, crooked, used office chair or similar that they found off the street or in a thrift shop.

Wait. What? We're not supposed to sleep in our stands while hunting?

Guilty!! But man that chair sure is comfy, just got a certain spot when you lean back where something gives, and " clunk".
