My oldest was feeling a little froggy at a Casino night, and put a bid in on an African safari hunt, and nobody outbid him. So, he got a 4 person 7 day hunt in S Africa, and he wants me to go. I know Grem has been before, anybody else on here been? It loooks like we choose whatever animals we want, and i guess shoot however many we want to pay for. I'm thinking Wildabeest, Impala, and Gemsbok, and an ugly Warthog. Should be the trip of a lifetime, finally getting a little payback, lol.
Looks like I'm headed to Africa...

Airfare is not included, that's another $1500, plus 20 hrs in the air, ugh. It's a 16k hunt, and he paid less than half that. I guess my biggest concern is how much it'll cost to get mounts back here.Comment

I did all of those with my 7 mag. 175gr partitions. You will have a blast. I have many boxes if you need to take some....
Get away from the shooting bench. All of my shots on my last all of my safaris were standing up from the sticks. All of them....practice crawling for 100 yards then shooting off the sticks. Or practice running for 100 yards then popping up and shooting off the sticks. You will get zero shots like you are used to on Texas game unless you shoot them from a truck. I prefer to find them from the truck then stalk in to shooting range. Hence my recommendation to practice from the sticks.
Bring chap stick, hard candy for the local children, a gift of something tangeable for your tracker in addition to money tip. I suggest a bino buddy binocular harness or headlamp etc.
Feel free to message me. There is a ton of paperwork to get sorted out to get your guns there and back. And a ton of prep work to get your trophies back. They will roll up your hides and tetris all your skulls together and put in one box to get home. Have a taxidermist here already set up they will help with the paperwork and tracking and labeling and tagging etc of all your trophies. You need their help.Comment

Very cool trip! 1500 in airfare? Are you sure you’re not missing a zero?
I just spot checked, that’s an amazing deal!Last edited by Boom!; 03-25-2024, 06:11 PM.Comment

Man that’s gonna be a heck of a cool time. The high rack thing would be the way to go for me too, especially if it’s cheaper then I’d have to.
I’ve got an uncle that's 18 years older than you and I that goes quite often over the years and said he walked 120 miles on a trip last year going after a particular elephant. To me that’s nuts but if I could track one that far in a truck then hell yea. LolComment

Airfare is between $1500 and 2k, depending on the month you fly, but yeah it's economy. My wife is on board, but if i throw in a 7k flight, that would throw a kink in things...🤣🤣Comment
