Skeeters and Coffee

Have any of you ever heard of burning coffee grounds to repel skeeters?
I read it on the interweb so it must be true. They say just put coffee grounds, fresh or used as long as it's dry in a heat proof container and light it like a candle. The smoke is supposed to repel them.
Anyone tried this?

We tried it at deer camp and it worked. Problem was no one could stand the smell.
