    Facing the music.

When we moved up here nearly 4 years ago I had a 4-car garage built. I only have one car as wife doesn't drive any more, but this was my last chance to have the garage of my dreams. I have room for my car, my riding lawnmower, my golf cart, all my yard and garden equipment with plenty of space for my workshop area. A nice work bench, rolling tool cabinet, lots of shelf space. and lots of floor space to work in. In the time since I first set it up I have never done a complete clean up and replace everything back where it belongs. TODAY WAS THE DAY. I found drill bits, sockets and assorted tools I haven't seen in 2 years. I found some tools I haven't seen for so long that I don't even remember buying them. I like the way it all looks....if only it would stay that way. Sigh...

I really need to organize my garage. I have a layout I’ve wanted to do for years. Life has slowed me down and the garage has become a magnet for junk. You give me inspiration to get it done. Great job

I'm known for posting pics on nearly every post or reply I make

Well, not happening here, too embarrassing

I had great plans to organize my workshop this Spring when it was still cool

Now it's blazing hot in there, even with the fans

        I'll get it done eventually,

When the next cold front arrives.

My workshop is such a mess there's no way I'll ever organize things. Had I listened to my bride and made the thing twice it's size, maybe. But when you try to stash 20 gallons in a 5 gallon bucket it just ain't happening. Ha....

Twice the size would only mean twice the mess to organize.

I do that every spring in my shop. And I do a purge of crap my wife has stored in the from the previous year.

Sounds like me. I can get organized, I just can’t stay organized.

I was organized once and I couldn't find anything.
I don't have anything clever to write here.

Organized chaos is how I like it
My shop looks like a coon with a pack of hounds ran through it

But, I still know where my 10mm socket is

When I was in high school the old man that ran the machine shop at Nash Auto had a work bench that was a total mess. But he turned out great work.

I guess I will forego taking any photos. Without any before shots, the scope and complexity of the project is lost. I have never been known as a neat freak. Compulsive neatness I don't suffer from. Things just got to the point that I was unable to do anything in such a complete shambles. I recommend an annual effort to maintain control but I seriously doubt I will ever do that again myself. I will TRY to clean up and replace tools and equipment after every project but, well....you know.

Aww, c'omon Jack! Let us see how neat you got it so we can see what it looks like next year at this time!

The only reason my garage is as neat as it is, is I don't do much of anything out there anymore. I do try to put tools back in the next few days after using them, just gotta rest up to feel like putting them back.

The ultimate neat freak was Trodery on old board. He gave me a reddy because I asked him why the light switch cover was crooked in his newly redone office
