Ideas on how to go about doing this?

Put bright lights in the attic and leave them on. They will vacate pretty quickly.

Mont, you say this in a way that it sounds like you have experience with this. But squirrels play all day in my yard. They don't seem nocturnal. Just curious here.

I have squirrels in my attic and they drive my dog nuts. I was thinking about playing rap music or something

That'll just attract coons to the squirrel party.

Trap them. Humane Society loans them out or buy a couple. Raw whole peanuts and a few black oilers, not many as food in the attic is not the greatest thing. Remove them and seal the holes.

        Calling Johnny Quest...
I would have been born on a horse, but my mom had to get down and open a gate.

Shotgun, and a call to the roofer afterwards.

Heard playing a loud radio in the attic non stop works for coons and squirrels. Put it on something you don't mind listening to because you will have to listen to it. Then put a couple moth balls near their entry. Don't lose or waste the moth balls because they are hard to harvest and stud moth can't breed anymore after they were taken from him.

Heard this before and then plug the holes up completely.

Conibear 110 set with marshmallows coated with peanut butter. I got tired of the rascals avoiding my humane traps. I tried. I was losing sleep. The final straw was one decided to chew on electrical wires. The wire it chewed was the power to the radio I had playing country music up there.

Definitely make sure to find where they're getting in and close off. You can trap them all you want (I've had decent luck with the hav-a-heart and peanuts) but if you don't seal off entry points they will be back. Hardware cloth seals them out well in strategic places.

years ago I had a home surrounded by huge oak trees and constant squirrel problems. I would replace wood trim they had chewed through and hear them chewing again on the same spot 2 days later. Finally broke out the 22 cal pellet gun. Popped one right away. 5 minutes later popped another. Had a nice pile of them on the ground when my clearly unhappy wife came out and asked how many I was going to kill. "All of them" was my answer. And yes I did skin and clean them all.

My pest control guy put Bat-B-Gone in my attic and they were gone in less than 10 minutes. That stuff is like ATOMIC moth balls. Makes the air so heavy that nothing can breathe!!!
