ID:	102501 Is the the lithium vs fossil fuels , a legitimate debate or just BS, even the Sierra club can't seem to find a validation for the contamination that lithium mining causes, not to mention the amount of water removed from the aquifers in the dessert regions they mine, other than the fact that they are helping to eliminate fossil fuel consumption. Hahahahaha the only thing on an Ev that is not produce by fossil fuel is the minerals in the battery, And that was mined refined and assembled in a casing made from and aquired by fossil fuel loving equipment. To any and all who want to extol the virtues of EVs because it is great and efficient, will save the planet, ,free us from fossil fuel bondage, make travel free, and never hurt a fruit fly in mating season, I got a lot of ocean front property in Arizona for sale.

So let me get this straight, you’re actually holding the oil business up as the bright shining model to emulate as an example of low environmental impact..

    Got it.

Yes, Lithium, just like any other mining, has a lousy record. That said, you’re actually trying to say that the grand master poobah of long term environmental damage for well over a century is the model here.

How about just going with “hey, all ya’ll try not to screw everything up” and move forward with ideas that work toward that goal?

Oil production on the whole is like a greenie weenie herb garden with organic fertilizer and rainwater collection irrigation, as compared to lithium mininig. So yeah. Lithium mining is like 3 mile island, meets Chernobyl.

Take a quick drive from Big Spring over to Eunice NM. It appears to be where they filmed Mad Max. A post apocalyptic land. Including large waste water ponds filled with brine contaminated with all sorts of kinds of nasty stuff including benzene.

Then check out the huge industrial land fills over there. Where we are burying mountains of waste from oil and gas production.
